GRIDIRON
Senior Unreal Generalist / 2021-2022
As an art generalist on Gridiron, a live service game centered around American football, I established the roadmap to the visual identity update of the game.
Overview
My role covered a wide-spectrum, from initial concepts to complex VFX and UI systems.
I implemented cutting-edge optimization techniques to support crowd generation, using
Vertex Animation Textures to offload thousands of animated characters to the GPU.
I also served as the primary VFX artist for player spells, through Unreal's Niagara
advanced particle behaviors.
As the player base required more character customization, I designed a framework for
corporate-sponsored visual variants, injecting coherence and social commentary in the lore of the game.
This vision extended to the UI, where I defined a high-energy aesthetic inspired by
contemporary athletic industrial designs.
I developed a 360-degree equirectangular painting workflow. This methodology allowed for a fully
immersive pre-visualization of spatial composition and atmosphere, supporting in aligning the team regarding
the environmental feel before the production began.
