MEG 9 - LOST ECHOES
Concept Artist / 2015-2017
I defined the visual identity of the game using Unreal Engine to bring together the narrative and aesthetic vision the team had for the world, in collaboration with William Gibson. The originality of the designs was praised by the author.
Overview
My role on the project was to define the game’s atmosphere and concept art while
diving into Unreal Engine to support the level design and environment production.
Noticing a lack of shared creative alignment with my coworkers, I created visual maps
and graphs to streamline the game’s complex narrative and pacing. This aligned the team
on a unified vision and established clear production goals for a cohesive player experience.
I assisted Steve Parkes (Creative Director) in building the visual identity of the game.
Working alongside Ron Luther (Audio), and Luis Fernando (Design), we built a symbiotic relationship
between what the player sees, hears, and does.
Luis's story offered a debate about technology. To this end, I intentionally designed the player's
modular assets with a tactical and heroic geometry. Luring the player into a sense of power before twisting
it towards a darker tone: uncontrolled, technology becomes formless, soulless, dangerous. The AI paperclip
problem. The player faces this narrative ambiguity on the battlefield where two camps slowly assimilate each
other in a fight for survival.
